Your clients' returns can be right—and still leave money behind.

A return-only review asks whether the form matches the records. OptiBooks is an AI-assisted review platform being built to ask the harder question: did the records receive the right accounting and tax treatment in the first place?

The overlooked layer

The return reports the books. It does not re-examine them.

That distinction is the opening. OptiBooks reviews the accounting and the return together, then narrows a large file into the items worth a CPA's attention.

Review together

Start below the tax form

Read the general ledger, trial balance and relevant supporting records alongside the filed return. This exposes treatment decisions that a form-to-form comparison cannot see.

Classify

Keep corrections separate from strategies

A possible error under the rules for that year is not the same as an election or planning choice that was available but not taken. They require different evidence, carry different risk and lead to different client conversations.

Test

Find out whether the item is actionable

A finding is not useful merely because it is interesting. The review must test the available route—such as an amended return or accounting-method change—the relevant dates, the evidence still needed and the effect on other years.

Decide

Give the CPA a reviewable case

Present what was detected, why it matters, the authority supporting it, what must be true and what remains unknown. The software does the search and organization. The professional makes the decision.

One real engagement

The return was accurate. One accounting treatment was not.

A business's CPA-prepared returns faithfully reflected the records provided. But one unsupported treatment had been applied consistently across several years—and the issue was visible only when the accounting was reviewed beneath the returns.

Correcting the treatment and refiling produced a cash refund. The forward-looking benefit may be larger, but those years have not been filed, so we do not include them in the result.

$250,000+ Cash refunded after correction and refiling. Client details withheld and result published with permission. This is one engagement—not an average, a promise or a prediction.

Built around the firm

Give more clients a second look without giving each file a second day.

Most firms do not lack the ability to evaluate a strong finding. They lack the hours required to search every client file for one.

OptiBooks is being designed to focus reviewer time where it can change an outcome: identify the client-year that deserves attention, organize the support, distinguish potential value from CPA-approved value, and carry the work from discovery through the firm's decision and eventual result.

You keep the client relationship, the professional judgment and the final word. OptiBooks helps make the search systematic instead of accidental. See how the firm workflow is being designed.

Professional control

Trust requires hard stops.

A finding that hides its assumptions or outruns the available facts creates work and risk. OptiBooks is being built to stop where the evidence stops.

The fit

For CPA firms that already know the client.

OptiBooks is being built for firms that prepare business returns and can obtain the accounting records behind them. The strongest fit is a small or midsize firm that wants to add more proactive recovery and planning work without turning every engagement into a manual forensic review.

It is not a filing product, a generic strategy library or a substitute for tax research and professional judgment. Business owners who see the value should bring OptiBooks to their accountant; the product is designed to work through the professional relationship, not around it.

Questions

Direct answers.

Can an accurately prepared business return still leave money behind?

Yes. A return may correctly report the accounting it was given while those records contain a classification, capitalization, timing or election decision worth revisiting. Finding that issue requires reviewing the return with the underlying accounting—not checking the form alone.

How will OptiBooks help a CPA review prior-year returns?

It is being built to review the ledger and supporting records with the return, separate possible corrections from elective strategies, test whether an item remains actionable, and give the CPA the facts, reasoning, authority and open questions needed to decide what to do.

Does OptiBooks file returns, post entries or replace the CPA?

No. OptiBooks produces review findings. It does not file, represent taxpayers or post changes to an accounting system. The CPA evaluates the facts and authority and decides whether to proceed.
